Congratulations to all freedom fighters in Libya! May your days ahead be filled with wisdom and joy, compassion and enlightenment.
Let Ijtihad (independent thinking) emerge, secular government arise, and most promisingly for the Libyan people, encourage an active democracy and help constitutional rule of law prevail!
Like Robert Mugabe, Colonel Gaddafi started out with the greatest of intentions and then became corrupted by power. I wouldn't be so quick to judge, as Tunisia's elections brought more women into power and into opposition than most Western countries.
ReplyDeleteEvery revolution is a longterm struggle, and if you would like to see progress in Libya over the next few years, then I suggest it will be more positive and proactive for you to work with Libyans on developing a coherent civil society, accepting and understanding the difficulty of providing secular government in a society with many tribal, fundamentalist elements.
Empathy is what is required.
